HARPIST RUTH O’HARA

Ruth O’Hara is a professional Irish & pedal harpist based in Co. Kildare / Co. Dublin, available for weddings, funerals, events, corporate events, solo/chamber music recitals, and pedal/Irish harp lessons.

Choose from an extensive repertoire including classical, traditional Irish, jazz, film, musical theatre and pop music. 

 

In 2012, Ruth began her study of Irish harp with Ashling Ennis. In 2013, on receiving an entrance scholarship to the Royal Irish Academy of Music, Dublin, Ruth studied pedal and Irish harp for ten years under Áine Ní Dhubhghaill. From an early age Ruth’s passion and dedication to harp was evident, being a Feis Ceoil first prize winner and receiving distinction and numerous high achiever awards in Royal Irish Academy of Music grade exams.

As a freelance harpist, Ruth has performed with the Hallé  Youth Orchestra, The National Youth Orchestra of Ireland, Trinity College Orchestra and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland. Recent chamber music recitals include with soprano Megan O'Neill & flautist Martina Rosaria O'Connell. Some of these recent  performances being held in renowned Irish venues; The K Club, Dublin Castle, Farmleigh House, The Convention Centre, The Mansion House, the National Concert Hall and The Royal Irish Academy of Music. 

Ruth holds an Associate Diploma in Music Teaching and Performance of the Royal Irish Academy of Music (ARIAM) and a Licentiate Diploma in Music Performance of the Royal Irish Academy of Music (LRIAM).
